I went north to find snow and horses…
Horses are just beautiful. Every year when it starts to get cold I have a strange urge to do a photo shoot with horses. (Perhaps you remember my shoot from last year in Nebraska.) Knowing I could get on the subway and go to a stable was just lovely. When my French photographer friend Guillame and I got to the stables I was instantly so excited to shoot. We walked around, found some horses and did our thing. Horses are such interesting animals because they can sense fear and trust. I tried to get the horses to feel comfortable with me before I started to pose with them.
There was a dog named Bailey that was so cute but she seriously wanted to play fetch with us. She kept bringing us the ball but wouldn’t let it go! Crazy pup. She was cute nonetheless and she seemed very loyal.
I also want to mention that the stable we visit was SO accommodating with us being there to shoot. I was so pleased with how friendly everyone turned out to be. It seemed hard to get a stable to be alright with us shooting there, but Riverdale Riding Academy was perfect. I recommend going there if you’re ever looking for a place to ride in New York!
I got so excited when I saw a horse being walked around with plaid on. I immediately had to find the horse with plaid and take photos with it.
I’m super into this new parka that has military details from Free People. Isn’t it perfect?
Wow… what a beautiful little trip north! I hope to do it again in the summer.
Love,
Rachel.

• 11 years agoOh my. This is one of the prettiest photo-posts I have seen on a blog for a long time. The sceney is just priceless, and so is your outfit. And I am absolutely in love with your hair.
Actually I live next to some farms with horses myself, but I am a little too afraid to get so close to them 🙂
Please keep on being so lovely!
