Yesterday was my first time visiting the historic New York public library.
I’ve been thinking lately how I haven’t been taking full advantage of this amazing city I now call home. There are so many things to do and see and I’ve only done a handful of them. Yesterday I decided it’s time to go down my list of things I would like to do in New York, so it began with checking out the public library. I invited my photographer friend Phil along to document our day. We first went to the historic building where surprisingly, there aren’t many books! It’s more of a tourist destination and for researchers to access special rooms that have books. The general public can’t really get into these rooms and there aren’t any books to check out there.
However a few blocks away there’s another public library building with plenty of books! I looked around at various art books from painting, drawing to photography. It had been a while since I’d been in a library and I really enjoyed it. I’ll have to see where the nearest one is to me in Brooklyn.
It was awesome to see where the Sex and the City movie wedding scene took place though, I’m not gonna lie. I’ve loved that show forever and can’t hide it. It’s a truly beautiful building and I definitely suggest checking it out for the architecture sake. There’s also artwork in the halls so it’s essentially like a free museum.
