Welcome joy.

Without further adieu, Jag Lever has a completely new look! I have really enjoyed the fancy shmancy layout I’ve had for the past few years, but to be honest I missed the good ol’ single column, simple and clean blog days. I wanted to breakdown the layout designing process for you guys, it was a really fun thing that I loved doing!

Step 1: It started out with a swash, how did it end up like this?

I literally opened Procreate on my new iPad pro and grabbed a paintbrush and accidentally made this one, really pretty brush stroke. It sparked an entire idea that this would be a part of my new header!

Step 2: And then, the font was decided.

I have always loved a good script font for all of my headers, so that part was a no-brainer. It took me a few days to finally settle on this one after purchasing a few commercial fonts. This one was just the vibe!

Step 3: Drop shadow and rose.

I knew that I definitely had to incorporate a rose element into this theme, but didn’t want to go overboard or have too much of a dark vibe. So with the font and the drop shadow text I think it came together nicely in a more clean and professional way!

Step 4: Lay it all out.

I then popped everything into a table on photoshop and started playing with how I wanted my post titles to look, etc. I was soooo thrilled when I finished this part!

I miss when the content spoke for itself. I tried to make something nice and easily accessible for you guys with the help of Shari from Little Blue Deer and my trusty new iPad pro! Which I actually drew the graphics myself on. Pretty proud of that! It still feels like me, but it’s a lot more simplified.

A nice way to spring clean, if you will! What do you guys think?! Let me know in the comments.

Love your header, the new layout really highlights the content more, so good job on achieving that! Font reminds me of Disney, it’s playful and really cute 🙂
