My favorite way to go casual with pieces that are still a statement.
This look is obviously very straightforward — coat, button-up, jeans, beanie, suspenders and black boots. Six pieces that are all classics and have been around forever. However together these items look simply beautiful to me. A classic menswear-inspired outfit always makes me feel bold. Do any of you gals try this trend?
I feel great in this look also because I am aware of the quality and craftsmanship each piece in this look entails.
Pieces that will change with me over time:
- The boots: The boots are by Wolverine and are made in my homestate Michigan. They’re a part of the Wolverine 1,000 Mile collection and they are made to last. You can just tell the quality all around when you slip your feet inside these boots. I can’t wait to wear them into the ground…
- The jeans (and beanie): The jeans are Nudie jeans, a Swedish raw denim company that has made great products for so long now. I love reading their catalog and learning all about raw denim and the recycled materials they use. Again, a company that is paying extreme attention to detail and materials. These jeans will age beautifully over time just like my boots.
- The shirt: The shirt is made right here in Brooklyn at In God We Trust. They are definitely paying close attention to materials and the best craftsmanship. Gotta love a local business that hits trends right on the head every time. I just love this brand so much, and my little tulip Noelle definitely has influenced that. This shirt in this look has a double collar and is just perfect for everyday wear. I know this shirt will always be one of my favorite staple go-to pieces.
I think it feels really good to have pieces like these in your wardrobe that you can always count on — look wise, quality wise and of course for the reason that over time they just get more beautiful.
Love,
R.

• 10 years agoI love menswear inspired outfits. They feel so clean on a woman. I’m glad you’re paying attention to good quality clothes. You don’t want to be buying the same thing again after 5 wears because it’s poorly made.
