So like, my hair is up. And I’m not wearing a hat.
So here’s the story with my hair and having it down more often than not/having bangs. When I was in high school I used to wear my hair up every day in a little bun with no bangs and a really dumb boy used to laugh and make fun of me because of my forehead so I became pretty insecure about it.
Now, I don’t really mind my forehead these days but I got in a bike accident when I was 8 or so and flipped forward off of a bike on to a street that wasn’t newly paved, meaning it was super gravely and rough and my face hit it pretty hard. I ended up almost having a concussion but thankfully I was only left with a gnarly bump the size of a baseball in the middle of my forehead covered with lots of pretty cuts.
For that reason I went back to bangs and have had variations of them ever since (side-swept emo bangs, combovers etc). I don’t think about it or care much anymore but I have definitely gotten into a habit of loving my hair more when it’s full and all over the place.
Now you know a little bit about why my hair is the way it is and why I may have preferred it that way. But this summer has been unbearably hot so I have chosen to wear a messy ponytail most days and for once I actually love it!
